There is a critical skills gap on the African continent in medicines development and regulatory sciences. Aligned with this need, Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development has been established in 2014 with the mission to provide leadership and to promote teaching and capability enhancement in these disciplines in South Africa and other African countries.
Using the strong local and international professional networks of its Directors, this aim is accomplished by:
- Fostering and promoting teaching and training in medicines development and regulation and/or related sciences in South Africa and other African countries;
- Organising workshops, webinars and courses;
- Development of young scientists;
- Promoting communication and cooperation between teaching institutions, industry and regulatory agencies.
Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development (FAAMD) is registered as a non-profit Company (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission of South Africa (CIPC), NPC 2014/104973/08; PBO 930054211), and is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
