Celebrating Our 10th Anniversary

Our first projects, the Regulatory Workshops and the flagship CLIC Course, already defined the key objectives of our Academy, teaching and training in medicines development and regulation. Since then, we have experienced a considerable growth of its professional network and reputation locally, but also internationally.

Coming Up...

Clinical Investigator Certificate Course: September 2024

The second on-site Clinical Investigator Certificate (CLIC) Course (CPD and GCP accredited) after the pandemic took place as face-to-face event on the 9 th to 13 th of September at the Nitida Wine Farm, Stellenbosch, Cape Town. The live format continues to offer the delegates and presenters an excellent networking platform for exploring future collaboration.

Regulatory capability enhancement:

Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development is strongly involved in the medicines regulatory course "Dossier Assessment for Clinical Assessors Within African Regulatory Agencies". Interested scientists from organisations outside Medicines regulatory Agencies are also invited to attend. Stakeholders of this programme are SAHPRA, MCAZ (Zimbabwe) and Ghana FDA, together with Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development, Pharmacometrics Africa NPC, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the University of Witwatersrand.

The third iteration of this course has ended with the formal graduation ceremony by Wits University on 4 April 2024. We are proud of the enthusiastic group of successful participants who will make a difference in the medicines regulatory landscape of Africa.

Frontiers in Pharmacology - Drugs Outcomes Research and Policies:

Prof Rosenkranz has been appointed as Specialty Chief Editor of the section Drugs Outcomes Research and Policies of the open-access journal Frontiers in Pharmacology. The topics addressed in this section are discussed in the Specialty Grand Challenge article "Drug outcomes research and policies - trends and challenges".

Education and Training in Pharmaceutical Medicine, Medicines
Development and Regulation for Scientists Worldwide:

Recognising the importance of education and training in medicines development and regulation and the various initiatives in this field worldwide, Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development participates in a Research Project with the journal "Frontiers in Pharmacology" on this topic.

Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development

There is a critical skills gap on the African continent in medicines development and regulatory sciences. Aligned with this need, Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development has been established in 2014 with the mission to provide leadership and to promote teaching and capability enhancement in these disciplines in South Africa and other African countries.

Using the strong local and international professional networks of its Directors, this aim is accomplished by:
